I charge a flat fee for the full project, rather than an hourly rate, so you know how much you’re paying before I start.

The quoted fee is based on what you tell me about the nature of the text – its length, the type of writing, and the level of proofreading/proof-editing needed – and on how quickly you require the finished text to be returned.

Texts with lots of specialist language take longer to proofread, as do texts with bibliographies, indexes, lots of footnotes/endnotes, charts or graphs, cross-references, quotations, and so on. Sometimes I may ask to see a sample before I can quote you a fee.
