Decisions about how, when, and where to get your work published are crucial, but can often feel bewildering. This workshop will equip you with the confidence and knowledge to make better choices for yourself and your research.<\/p>

Designed for postgraduate students and early career researchers, this two-hour workshop gives a detailed introduction to the world of academic publishing and the academic author\u2019s role within that world.<\/p>

The workshop focuses on four core types of published output: journal articles, themed\/special journal issues, monographs, and edited collections. We\u2019ll explore the processes, timescales and people that you\u2019re likely to encounter as your work moves from proposal through to publication and beyond. We\u2019ll spend some time on peer review: what it is, who does it (spoiler: it could be you!), and how to benefit from it. We\u2019ll also discuss contracts, rights, permissions, copyright and royalties.<\/p>

This workshop is delivered online\u00a0 and can be tailored to suit individual participants or groups of up to twenty-four.<\/p>

You\u2019ve written your first draft: what now? Whether your writing is headed for a publisher or an examiner, you\u2019ll need to do some editing before it\u2019s ready to be read.<\/p>

Designed to be adapted for postgraduate or undergraduate student groups, this two-hour workshop outlines and develops the core editing skills involved in preparing academic writing for examination and\/or publication.<\/p>

This workshop explores the different stages of a writer\u2019s editorial process, from structural and developmental editing through to more detailed line- and copy-edits and finally the proofread. We\u2019ll try out a range of tools and strategies for editing and proofreading your own writing. We\u2019ll also look at writing abstracts, finding the right title, and strategic keyword selection for online publishing success.<\/p>

This workshop is delivered online and can accommodate up to twenty-four participants per session.<\/p>
